GDC 2015 Notable For PC/PS4/XB1 Fans; Jury Still Out On DX12 XB1 Benefits

In a few hours, the second day of GDC 2015 begins in San Francisco. According to Stardock President & CEO Brad Wardell, this year’s convention should be notable for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 fans regardless of their platform of choice.
He also mentioned that Valve will have an important presence. The company has already announced a partnership with HTC in order to create a VR headset called Vive, but there should be more news in the coming days from GDC 2015.
Finally, he pointed out that the jury is still out on the DirectX 12 benefits for Xbox One, while hinting that the console’s limited memory bandwidth (it has 8GB of DDR3, while competitor PlayStation 4 has 8GB of GDDR5) could be a bottleneck for the main feature of DX12, which is parallel processing.
Wednesday should be the big day, with many interesting sessions on schedule. Yesterday, we uncovered some information possibly hinting to an announcement of Forza PC; Konami should be announcing the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Stardock itself will demonstrate a couple of new DX12 games that Wardell mentioned to look unbelievably real.
Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be certainly more coming out of GDC 2015 and we’ll be here to report it. Stay tuned!
