Sony Revises PS4+PS3 Sales Upwards To 17.5M For FY14

Sony continues to benefit greatly from PlayStation 4’s selling power, it appears. In their latest financial report, the Japanese giant mentioned 6.5% increased sales and 104.9% increased operating income when comparing Q3 FY14 with Q3 FY13.

As you can see in the following slide, this is mainly due to the “Game & Network Services” PlayStation division, which generated more sales than any other division during Q3 FY14.

This division specifically reported a 16.8% increase in sales year-on-year, with PlayStation 4 leading the charge and compensating the inevitable decrease in PlayStation 3 hardware and software sales.

The company also revised its forecasts upwards from last October, specifically from 17.0 to 17.5 million units sold for PS4 & PS3, while PS Vita forecasts remain unchanged at 3.5 million for FY14.

On March 4, Sony Computer Entertainment announced that PlayStation 4 sales had surpassed 20.2 million units. It’s likely that we’ll get another update at E3 2015 during the annual press conference held by Sony.
