Thuway: Infinity Ward, Visual Concepts Not Fans of X1

After a brief period of stillness, Thuway’s Twitter account is once again thriving with rumors and insider information.

In a series of tweets, he stated that two development studios, specifically Infinity Ward (historically linked to Call of Duty) and Visual Concepts (the developers behind NBA2K), clearly prefer PlayStation 4 over Xbox One. Thuway added that “a lot of the guys there play on PS4 exclusively”, while during the last generation, everyone used to choose Xbox 360.

This isn’t all that surprising. We already knew about Visual Concepts and reported on their love for PS4 earlier; moreover, different sources of data show that gamers prefer Sony’s console to Microsoft’s. Of course, PS4 is selling more, but sometimes sales data are not enough on their own and it can be useful to check surveys. The last one published by DealNews suggests that Sony won over those customers who didn’t have too much trouble switching platforms, such as dual owners of PS3 & X360: 35% of the participants in this survey choose PS4, only 23% preferred to buy Xbox One.

Of course, it’s still early days as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 only launched in November 2013. E3 2014 should be full of announcements on both sides, which is great news for us: there has never been a better time to be a gamer.

  No team will openly say “We dislike Xbox One”, ever. It doesn’t make the slightest business sense for a third party. Still, if you read the article on Visual Concepts, which is based on an actual interview with a developer, they said that “all they play is NBA2K14 on PS4″, so I’m inclined to believe thuway about IW as well.
