Vita Isn’t Ready For AAA Western Titles, Says PlayStation Boss

Sony has recently released a video announcing that they have conquered the 100 million units sold. This number is, of course, counting the combined sales of PS Vita, PS3 and PS4. We all know that the PS3 had a wonderful run in the end, while PS4 has been beating all launch records for a new console.
Still, PlayStation boss Andrew House told IGN that he doesn’t see the PS Vita as a solid platform for AAA titles coming from western developer. He still said that Japan is supporting the handheld console with several AAA titles as it has “a different function with the console dynamic”.
I certainly think you’ll still see [Vita] as a AAA machine in Japan where it has a different function with the console dynamic of the marketplace. That for me is a given. It’s hard to say in terms of the other markets.
He also stated that the Remote Play feature is still in its early stages and he sees it as the only opportunity for Vita owners to play AAA games.
I think remote play is still in its nascent stages, I think we need to have better understanding. We know a lot of players are embracing it and using it and seem to like the experience a lot, but necessarily that changes the dynamic. You know, if you can play your PlayStation 4 content at will on Vita, then does that obviate the necessity of having AAA content or not?
These words came following a statement from Director of Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation at Sony Computer Entertainment, Don Mesa, who also said that “the economics simply don’t work with the traditional process” on the PS Vita.
