Dragon Age Inquisition Multiplayer Detailed

After many rumors in the past few months, Bioware has finally revealed that indeed, there will be a Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer mode. According to Creative Director Mike Laidlaw, it’s a strictly co-op experience (no PvP, then) akin to a dungeon crawler, with up to four friends adventuring together. He then clarified that this will no have impact on the story aside from “themes”, though we don’t really know what these are at the moment.

As you can imagine, more questions from Dragon Age fans kept coming, and Laidlaw proceeded to clarify even more. Some were critical about this addition, as Bioware probably expected, and the Creative Director commented that having co-op helped with combat and encounter design. He also mentioned that it’s technically possible to play even this part of Dragon Age Inquisition by your own, but it will be extremely hard.

Finally, he confirmed that in Dragon Age Inquisition multiplayer there won’t be the chance to design a character, as they will be predefined; Producer Scylla Costa mentioned that they are Agents of the Inquisition.

IGN has a preview already up with some additional details. Apparently, the levels will have elements of random generation in order to keep things fresh, and as with any dungeon crawler the main draw will be loot.

Bioware promises a lot of DLC with new heroes (twelve will be available at launch, according to the official FAQ), levels and more, and all of it will be free. Clearly this follows the successful model of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, and it’s no wonder that Michael Gamble, Producer of Mass Effect, tweeted that this is going to be as much surprisingly fun as that one was.
