PS4 Demand 6X Higher Than Closest Competitor In Germany

A new report published this week by German price comparison site Billiger.de confirmed that in Germany, Sony’s PlayStation 4 demand is extremely higher than its competitors.

According to the report, PS4 demand is six times higher than the closest competitor, which is Nintendo’s WiiU, mostly thanks to Mario Kart 8 - since its release, WiiU demand jumped almost four times.

In the meantime, Microsoft’s Xbox One is trailing “far behind” in last place, and sadly enough, the report mentions that its predecessor - Xbox 360 - enjoyed more demand since January 2014.

Overall, Germany hardware sales are estimated to be at 540K units for PlayStation 4, 350K for WiiU (which released one year earlier than the others, though) and 170K for Xbox One. The report also adds that there has been a general downward trend from March, but this is to be expected - the strongest months for console sales are from November to March. PC gaming is not affected though, with PC games enjoying the highest demand in the first months of the year, with a peak in March; this isn’t surprising either, as PC market has always been very strong in Germany.

Microsoft is trying to fight back and certainly the big temporary exclusive announcement of Rise of the Tomb Raider goes in that direction, but will it be enough to change the trend, or will PS4 demand remain far higher? Let us know your opinion in the comments.
