Uncharted 4 Lead MP Designer Confirmed To Be Robert Cogburn

Today is a sad day for Uncharted 4 fans, as Sony Computer Entertainment officially delayed the game with a post on the PlayStation Blog. Naughty Dog‘s first true PlayStation 4 game is now scheduled for Spring 2016, with Creative Director Neil Druckmann promising that “it will be worth the wait” as gamers will be in for “a thrilling, emotional ride”.

Still, that’s not the only Uncharted 4 news for today. It has been now clarified that Robert Cogburn, instead of Erin Daly (as erroneously stated by Ricky Cambiar in a video interview with Game Informer), is filling the role of Lead Multiplayer Designer; this has been confirmed by Daly himself on the official PlayStation forums:

Ricky misspoke in this video; Robert Cogburn is the lead MP designer on Uncharted 4. We’re all working on it together though and making U4 MP awesome :)

Cogburn was also Lead MP designer on Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, which was particularly praised for the improvements made to cooperative mode over its predecessor. Interestingly, Cogburn already spoke publicly about Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and both times he was very enthusiastic about it; during an AMA session on Reddit last year, he said:

If I said anything about what we’re doing right now it wouldn’t be exciting.
The PS4 is awesome. It gives us the chance to do a lot of things we’ve been talking about for some time. You’ll be in awe when you play it.

More recently, he used Twitter to fuel some more Uncharted 4 hype:

Naughty Dog has a full year ahead to make Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End the memorable sendoff that Nathan Drake deserves. That obviously includes multiplayer and we’ll probably learn a lot more between E3 and Gamescom 2015; moreover, both Uncharted 2 & 3 had a pre-release beta about five/six months before release and if this tradition will be respected, then players could still have a taste of the game in 2015.

In any case, stay tuned on Worlds Factory for more.
