Guerrilla:We Did The Best In The Time We Had

Some developers of Dutch studio Guerrilla Games are holding an Ask Me Anything session on r/PS4. The Senior Online Producer, Samrat Sharma, replied to many interesting questions with sheer honesty, mainly about their launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall.

A few people have been lamenting the absence of 3D and PlayStation Move support, which were both available in Killzone 3. Sharma said that they were practically forced to leave those optionals out because of time constraints, and they tried to do their best with the time they had available - clearly, most launch titles are always at least a bit rushed.

As we were working on launch hardware we needed to cut out extras like Move and 3D to ensure we delivered the best possible experience with shadow Fall within the time we had.

We really like what we did with SF.

Sharma also admitted that the player number in online multiplayer matches is surprisingly lower, something that has been discussed within the community since the very launch of Killzone: Shadow Fall.

I’ll be honest, it’s low, but it’s enough that everyone is in a near full to full match, so we keep on supporting them. Intercept will bring in a lot of players who haven’t played in a while.

Having played the game a lot, I have to concur that while the numbers are inexplicably low, there really isn’t any practical issue in finding matches, so in reality the gaming experience isn’t diminished at all.

Another interesting tidbit is that a “retro map announcement” is incoming, meaning that gamers will get to play some of their favorite maps from Killzone 2 & 3 in Shadow Fall.

Retro maps are coming!

Stay tuned for our retro map announcement too.

Are you still playing Guerrilla’s KZ:SF? The game will soon receive a co-op expansion called Intercept, which will be shown at E3. Look forward to some more information about it next week.
