Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor gets new CG trailer

Monolith Productions uploaded today a new trailer for the much-anticipated action/adventure Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, just in time for E3 2014. The video features protagonist Talion slaying everyone who blocks his path, as he seeks vengeance from Sauron and his minions. Talion’s sentiments are shared by an immortal Wraith bound to him, which adds to his considerable powers, if the trailer is any indication.

 

 

Along with the trailer, it has been announced that exclusive runes will be offered to those who sign up for a WBID account here. These are the two runes, as mentioned in the press release:

WBID – Orc Hunter Rune
o    Talion  can overcome Sauron’s captains by increasing terror from his stealth takedowns.
Palantir – Gravewalker Rune: After signing into WBID, get the Gravewalker rune when accessing Palantir upon launch
o    Talion spread’s fear among Sauron’s army when his Captains are defeated.

 

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an open-world action RPG, allowing players to explore the world as they see fit and do multiple sidequests. Moreover, the implemented Nemesis System will make it possible for the players’ interactions with NPCs to affect their behavior towards Talion as the story progresses. Combat will be customized based on two skill trees, that of the ranger and that of the Wraith. A ranger build will focus on staying in the shadows and not attracting attention, while a Wraith-heavy build will allow Talion to decrease the morale of enemies through the deeds he has commited. The title seems to be shaping up nicely, and hopefully the dark humor that Monolith promised will be there for the release. You could also check out some screenshots of the game we posted here.

 

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is set for release on October 7, 2014 for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox360, and Xbox One.
