High Moon Studios To Work On Next Call of Duty?

Job listings these days are often featured in gaming news, as they help make educated guesses on unannounced projects. For instance, the latest job listing posted by High Moon Studios (known for Transformers and Deadpool) hints that the developer might be working on the next Call of Duty title in some capacity.

High Moon Studios seeks a highly skilled Senior Lighting Artist to create visually compelling and creative artwork for a high-profile franchised title. As a Senior Lighting Artist, you will report to the Art Director and work directly with the Art and Design teams, to produce prebaked, real-time, lighting and post production processing. Award winning next generation content is what we are looking for. If you enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment, and value well thought out processes and schedules then this role is for you.

The Senior Lighting Artist is responsible for the design and creation of lighting, from concept to completion, and all associated lighting pipelines. Using the Radiant engine, Lighters combine artistic talent with technical ability, scripting lighting to guide the player through gameplay spaces and highlight key moments. You must possess excellent organizational skills, and effective communication skills. As a Senior Lighter, you must have demonstrated exceptional artistic and technical skills while in a similar role on at least one AAA console game.

The key element here is the Radiant engine (which we’ve highlighted): GtkRadiant is a level-design program that is only used, to the best of our knowledge, in Activision titles by the IW Engine, which has been the foundation of all Call of Duty games since Call of Duty 2. Of course, this is still a rumor, but it’s not unlikely, since Activision already used Neversoft and Raven Software to work on past CoD titles on certain aspects of the games.
