In a launch postmortem on the game’s website, Galactic Café confirmed that the narrative exploration game has sold 100,000 only four days after the game’s launch.
“This is a lot more than we were expecting, and the shock of a successful launch may have been one of its biggest challenges. Some of the repercussions of this success is affected by business decisions we made 18-24 months ago, long before we ever thought this was going to make any real money,” the development team stated.
The team believes the success of The Stanley Parable can be explained by a number of factors, including some interesting trailers, customised demos for specific events, and their general release PC demo, which has attracted more than 200.000 players so far.
Although its currently only available on PC, creator Davey Wreden told GameInformer The Stanley Parable is on its way to Mac.
