A PlayStation Blog post says Kickstarter title Mighty No. 9 could make its way to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
The blog post was written by Mark MacDonald, executive director of 8-4, Ltd., and in it, he says, “Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game coming to the PlayStation 3 (and maybe PS4 and even Vita! But more on that later…).
But with four days left as of right now, Mighty No. 9 has not yet reached the milestone at $3 million and $3.5 million where it would make its way to the PlayStation 4 or Vita respectively. However, Sony seems interested enough in the project to where it could make its way to both platforms despite the unmet goals.
MacDonald states in the blog, “As we mentioned, the game is still in the early design phase, but Sony has already been incredibly supportive to us as an indie developer, reaching out to offer advice, promotion (including this blog post!) and all kinds of other help.”
As of right now, the game will be a digital download for Mac and Linux versions, and making its way to PC via Steam, Wii U, Xbox 360 and of course, PlayStation 3. It is expected to release sometime in Spring 2015.
Mighty No. 9 is a side-scroller taking a flashback to the 8-bit and 16-bit eras of gaming. Players assume the role of Beck, the “ninth in a line of powerful robots,” as it says on the Kickstarter page. When Beck is the only robot not infected by a computer virus, turning the machines against humanity, it’s up to him to take down his fellow robots and save the world. As you fight bosses and other foes, you will acquire their power-ups and use them to advance through levels akin to Mega Man.
Might No. 9 is being developed by Comcept, the developers behind Vita title Soul Sacrifice, with industry veteran and Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune leading the project.
