Star Wars: release plan announced for the new trilogy

In the early morning at Las Vegas’ CinemaCon (15-18 april) Alan Horn talked to the press about Disney Corporation’s release plan for the new Star Wars trilogy. For those still unaware, LucasFilm (and LucasArts too) has been acquired by Disney some months ago for 4 billion dollars.

The first new episode will be released in 2015, when the designated director, J.J. Abrams will be totally free from his actual project Star Trek Into Darkness . Yes, that means the same director is going to hold them both (I wonder if this makes him King of the Universe, or something like that). The releases will happen every other year, so we will see Episode 7 in 2015, Episode 8 in 2017 and Episode 9 in 2019, so fans can be assured that the wait should be shorter in comparison to the three-year release gap of all the previous chapters.
