Bloodborne Dev Would Like To See More Casual Players, Admits Van Helsing Influence

Bloodborne Dev Jun Yoshino has answered to many questions posed by the PlayStation Community on the upcoming action RPG, scheduled for March 24/25 (depending on your location) as PlayStation 4 exclusive. There are a few interesting bits - for instance, Yoshino openly admits that Bloodborne may be completed even by folks who weren’t able to finish the Souls games, mainly because of the ability to start cooperative sessions in a more secure way (you’ll be able to set up a password of sorts with your friends to join their session directly); he also states that he’d be happy to see more casual players in the game.

Yes, it’s possible. It has the co-op. Some people might consider it as cheating, but it’s mostly to help each other. It’s important to know how to play, but this doesn’t mean that only hard-core gamers can play the game.
I’d love to see a LBP player doing a Twitch on Bloodborne. That would be really interesting. I’d like to see more casual players to play the game, especially together with a hard-core gamer. It’ll be amazing!

Yoshino also admitted that the setting in Bloodborne has been influenced by novels/movies such as Dracula and Van Helsing.

As said before, the game is inspired by novels and movies, like Dracula and Van Helsing. Miyazaki prefers the novels rather than the movies as he likes to make up his own vision. Van Helsing is definitely one of the influences of the game.

Personally I’m very glad to be able to play the game cooperatively my friends. Mark my words: Yharnam’s horrors are best braved with a party.
