Far Cry 4 To Have Asymmetrical MP, Demanding PC Version

It’s been two years since the release of Far Cry 3 and soon, the next chapter in the open world FPS adventures by Ubisoft (although the first game was developed by Crytek, as you might recall) will be available. Far Cry 4, due on November 18th for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, looks to expand on what made its predecessor so successful while fixing the main issues; for example, multiplayer mode was just too average (with the exception of the map editor, now a trademark of the series) to be noticed against other multiplayer first person shooters.

However, it seems like Far Cry 4 has a much more interesting mode to offer, as hinted by Senior Level Designer Vincent Ouellette, who said the following in an interview with Strategy Informer:

Yes, there will be. Nothing’s been announced in detail yet, but I can say that it’s asymmetrical so it’s very interesting. I mean like Spies Vs Mercs (from Splinter Cell), two teams with different abilities who you need to play differently. It’s actually handled by the guys at Red Storm, they know their multiplayer. I’m really excited about it. We’ll be announcing more soon.

This is good to hear; personally I loved Spies vs Mercenaries, and I believe something like that would work even better in a game using first person view. Another tidbit from the interview says that Far Cry 4, much like the previous game, will have a high quality, demanding PC version - let’s hope for a better than average optimization, though.

It’s scalable of course for a start. If you have a super-crazy rig that can run in 4K you’ll be able to run the game in super-high definition, that sort of thing. That’s what’s nice about PC. And since the first game we’ve become known for shipping high quality PC builds that are quite demanding on PC, I think we’ve done that this time around too.

Stay tuned for more on Far Cry 4 as the launch gets closer.
