Destiny Beta Date Announced, Special Editions Content

Bungie has finally revealed the official date when the Destiny’s beta goes live through the game’s official website, which features a countdown clock.

The beta will start on 10:00am PDT on July 17 and it will be available first on PS4, PlayStation Plus is required to access some features as the site reads, and PS3. Then on July 21, it will go offline for maintenance and it will return online on July 23 but this time it will be available to PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One users. The beta will end on July 27.

The whole beta phase will provide players with access to 5 game modes. First of all, Tower mode, a third person social space, some part’s of Destiny’s Story mode, PvP Crucible mode, few Co-op Strike missions will be available and finally free roaming will also be featured in this beta.

There are three special collector’s editions of Destiny. They are Ghost Edition, Limited Edition and Digital Guardian Edition.

The contents of the Ghost edition, which is priced at $149.99 and it is said to be rare and will be a very limited stock, are:

  • A Steelbook disc case
  • Disc copy of the game
  • Field manual with “handwritten” note
  • An “antique” star chart
  • A Guardian folio
  • 4 postcards from the Golden Age
  • The Destiny Expansion Pass which grants you free access to the first and second expansions
  • Collector’s Edition Digital Content
  • A life-size talking replica of the Ghost robot voiced by Peter Dinklage

Limited Edition, priced at $99.99, has exactly the same content as the Ghost edition except for the talking replica. If you ever get a little lonely, you might then think of getting the Ghost edition to talk to your own ghost robot.

Digital Guardian Edition, priced at $89.99:

  • A digital code to download the game
  • Early access to Vanguard armory player emblems
  • Instant access to upcoming expansions once they are released The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves”
  • Collectors Edition Digital Content

Destiny will release fully on September 9 for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
