Far Cry 4 Allows You To Kick, Throw Bait

Any list of best games released in 2011 has to include, in my opinion at least, Far Cry 3. The game had amazing graphics and hilariously addictive sandbox gameplay which led to funny and satisfying encounters with AI, both humans and animals.

With Far Cry 4, due November 18th, Ubisoft Montreal is going to add many tricks to the player’s arsenal. For example, as explained by developers Alex Hutchinson (Creative Director) and Mark Thompson (Narrative Director) , we’ll have another very realistic way to interact with the already stunning AI ecosystem (in the gameplay footage below you can notice an eagle snatching a prey from the ground): throwing bait. Moreover, elephants will play a fairly important part in the ecosystem, and it will be possible to either send them in a rage charge or just climb on top of one and “drive” it.

Another seemingly minor new feature is the ability to kick when meleeing while aiming down - the developers predict that “come November, people will be kicking rocks, explosive barrels, dead bodies” all the time.

Action movie fans will love the addition of driving takedowns, with the main character leaping from his vehicle to the enemy’s while slashing their throats and taking over; obviously there are wingsuits, as you can see in the trailer, and the grapple hook, which is very useful since the game takes place in the Himalaya region.

The biggest single new feature is probably coop though, which developers described as “one of our big ways to open up the world and letting you play as you want”. If you’re worried about spoiling the storyline while playing with a friend (which I would totally understand, as I use to do the same), there’s no such problem in Far Cry 4, since the solo missions are automatically toggled off; if you jump into another friend’s game and clear an outpost or fortress, this will be reflected in your game when you get back to single player mode.

What do you think? Do you like what you’re seeing?
