Uncharted 4 To Be The “Ultimate” Uncharted

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games scheduled for release in 2015. The PlayStation 4 exclusive was demonstrated in a lenghty gameplay video at last month’s PlayStation Experience event, and this month Naughty Dog is revealing even more bits of information on GameInformer. For example, in a 33 minutes long video interview, Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann explained that creating games like these is always hard as there is no blueprint, not even the previous games as the developers always want to improve and they’re now looking to create the ultimate Uncharted.

It’s never easy. There’s no blueprint.

[interviewer - Not even Uncharted 2, for example?]

No, because we’re constantly questioning how to do this better. We want to create an experience that resonates with the players.

What we’re trying to do is create amazingly rich characters and adventures that these characters have to go on, and all this has to make sense, it has to click together with the controller in your hand. And I want to feel engaged, I don’t want to just play that same game I’ve played before. We’re going to evolve it, like with The Last of Us which gave us new concepts on how to evolve. Each time, as players we want to play a game that is the ultimate Uncharted that this thing can be.

If we were to make Uncharted 2 now it would be different. We’ve changed, we’ve learned so much and now this is the Uncharted we want to make, the culmination of everything we’ve learned from both Uncharted and The Last of Us.

In all likelihood, we’ll know a lot more about the game after this year’s E3, which will take place as always at the Los Angeles Convention Center between June 16 and 18. Stay tuned for more on Uncharted 4!
