CD Projekt Loves Skyrim,Hopes To Replace It With The Witcher 3

Each passing day means that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, perhaps the single most anticipated videogame release on the horizon and winner of many Worlds Factory Gamescom 2014 Awards (including Best of the Show), is one step closer to launching. Still, 24th February 2015 is some time away and there’s no better way of tiding ourselves over than reading something new about the game. Strategy Informer helps us with the daily dose, thanks to a nice interview from which I have extracted a particularly interesting tidbit regarding The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the differences with The Witcher 3 according to CD Projekt.

Head of Marketing Michal Gilewski said:

Yeah, I mean when you say open world, the first game on your mind is normally Skyrim. I hope that in 2015, that will be The Witcher. We love Skyrim, that’s a great game, but I think that they have a totally different approach. At least that’s what I believe, I’m not in their heads, but when I’m looking at Skyrim, for me it’s a great open world with great storylines and great characters in the middle, whereas when I’m looking at The Witcher I have a great main character with a huge story around him placed within an open world. The perspectives here are different, each looks at things from a different angle. Our game will be about you, who you are, how you’re immersing with the world, how you’re interacting with the story everywhere around you, and how this story will influence the whole world.

On one hand, CD Projekt declared its love for Skyrim, which prompted the studio to bring their beloved series into a full open world; on the other hand, they have a clear idea on the differences between the two games and ultimately hope to replace it in the minds of gamers as the open world fantasy roleplaying game. Frankly, all signs point to a resounding success; don’t forget to check our own Gamescom interview.
