The Last of Us Sells 7 Million Before Remastered Release

According to Javi Andres on Twitter, editor of Spanish gaming news site MeriStation, The Last of Us has passed the 7 million mark on the PS3 alone.

 

This puts The Last of Us as one of Playstations best selling exclusive titles, such as the Uncharted series which has sold 17 million copies collectively. At 7 million, The Last of Us is even beginning to compete with the Halo series, with Halo 3 selling 11 million alone.

Josh Walker, Sony Entertainment Europe Product Manager, has claimed in an interview with MCV that a lot of PS4 owners still have to play The Last Of Us:

We’ve looked at PSN data and can see a huge proportion of PS4 players haven’t experienced The Last of Us yet

If this is true, then with the PS4 Remastered edition of The Last of Us on sale in 16 days, it is reasonable to predict that its sales could reach that of the collective sales of Uncharted or even Halo 3. The goal of 10 millions doesn’t seem that far fetched at this point.
