Destiny Alpha Had Less Than 10% Of The Game

Just as many of you, I’ve been burning this weekend on Bungie‘s Destiny Alpha test (when I wasn’t watching the World Cup, admittedly). While I liked the game overall (look forward to detailed impressions soon), I’ve been a bit worried about the amount of content, especially for PvE; however, Designer Evan Nikolich came to my (and many others) rescue by clarifying on Twitter that Destiny Alpha contained less than 10% of the final game’s content, which is “huge”, with more planets, more strikes, more PvP maps and modes, more gear, a full campaign and “The Raid”.
He also left more than a window open for PC fans, when he answered a tweet asking if it was coming out on the platform with “Not yet. Never say never, though”:
Seeing Destiny on PC certainly looks like just a matter of time, then, with Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg stating to Polygon that it’s a natural fit and porting it over is a “heavy point of discussion”.
It is [a good fit], and it’s something we’re talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is. Again, no announcements, but it’s something that’s a heavy point of discussion. And you asked how are we dealing with the complexity of developing for so many platforms, how about one more on top of that? You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we’re putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it’s of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit.
The game already looks gorgeous on PlayStation 4, but surely a high-end PC could make it even better. If you played the Alpha, what do you think about Destiny and will you be playing the game on September 9th? As a reminder, it will launch on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and 4.
