BioShock Series’ Future Titles To Be Developed By 2K Marin

While Irrational Games will not be handling the development duties for future BioShock games, following decisions from studio head Ken Levine earlier this year, it appears that publisher 2K has plans for the series.

During the Cowen and Company analyst conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that future games in the BioShock series will be developed by one of their internal studios 2K Marin. Also clarified was what the future of the BioShock series looks to be heading towards at this point. Zelnick further clarified with this statement:

“We think [the BioShock series is] important and certainly something that we’re focused on…”

“I think there’s a lot of upside in that franchise. It hasn’t necessarily been realized yet. And the question for the future, assuming we decide to answer the question, would be ‘How do you stay true to that creatively?”

This news comes as a sign of clarity for BioShock fans, who up until this point only knew that the series was not dead and had a future. Now that future has been made much more  clear, and it appears that 2K Marin has big plans for the series going forward.
