Insomniac: Xbox One Not A Difficult System To Work On

Sunset Overdrive, the Xbox One exclusive in development at Insomniac Games, is getting a reveal today, with new screens and details. The game is being described as “Tony Hawk meeting a third person shooter”; it will have an open world and a dedicated single player campaign. Multiplayer will be important too, but no hard details were given on this mode yet.

In the meantime, Insomniac also had the opportunity to talk a bit about their experience with Xbox One. Speaking with EDGE, Creative Director Marcus Smith said that the platform wasn’t particularly hard to work with, especially since the studio was used to more complex hardware such as Sony‘s PlayStation 3.

I’ll say it’s not a difficult system to work on. We’re coming from Sony platforms during the last gen! For us to focus on Xbox One has been great, because the guys can really dig into the hardware, and working with our partners [we’ll] continue to optimise so we can get more onscreen.

Sunset Overdrive should be running at sub-1080P resolution, but that doesn’t seem to be a problem - from the latest screens and footage, the graphics look very clean. Stay tuned for more on this colorful new IP by Insomniac.
