Sony sold 700K PS4 Units in Europe and Australasia

Update: in the official press release by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, it has been clarified that 700K PS4 units were sold in Europe and Australasia from 29th November to 1st December.

During the PS Awards Stream, Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, proudly announced that 2.1 million of PS4 units were sold through as of 1 December. PlayStation 4 went on to become the fastest selling console in UK history, amongst other things, and already surpassed WiiU’s install base in just 48 hours.

It’s no surprise after the early success of the launch in USA/Canada and the incredible rush scenes we reported on earlier. Surely, this success will hugely influence how third parties look at PlayStation 4 - it has been praised almost universally so far in terms of development, but even exclusive contracts for other platforms are going to be very hard to pull off when a publisher knows it’s giving up on a lot of potential by not developing for Sony’s new console. Did you already buy PlayStation 4 and if so, what are your first impressions?
