According to some reports from Germany, Phil Spencer (Microsoft‘s Game Studios vice president) is expected to deliver the firm’s keynote at Gamescom 2013 on 20th August (the fair begins on 21 for press, 22 for the public).
In the German press release, it is hinted that Spencer will talk about the challenges of developing next-gen hardware and software - undoubtedly talking about Microsoft’s approach with Xbox One. At least a new game is supposed to be announced during the keynote, and it is possible that the console’s release date will be finally revealed.
