Dragon Age Inquisition has multiple playable races

Even though the release is still far away (Fall 2014, as announced in the first trailer shown at E3), a healthy amount of details on Bioware‘s third chapter in the Dragon Age series has been just unearthed by Game Informer.

Perhaps most notably, it’s worth to point out that Dragon Age Inquisition will have multiple playable races. Both gender combination of humans, dwarves and elves have been confirmed so far, while Qunari are still being considered.

Other highlights include:

  • Some destructibility and building elements (courtesy of Frostbite 3): for example, having a mage in the party could allow the player to reassemble a crumbled footbridge to reach an otherwise blocked area
  • A less frantic, more tactical based approach to combat, closer to Dragon Age Origins rather than the last one
  • Enemies don’t level up with the character, so it is entirely possible to stumble upon much more powerful monsters
  • The main character is the head of the Inquisition. The player will have  to gather the support of other factions, willingly or not; for example, coming across a fortress, the player might be refused entry and could then decide to lay siege on it
  • Weather effects will have an impact on exploration and combat. Rainy weather makes areas muddy, slowing agility even in combat, and sandstorms could force the player to take shelter

Dragon Age Inquisition is scheduled for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms. Certainly 2014 will be an interesting year for RPG fans, considering that The Witcher 3 is also expected to be released.
