First Pokémon Game for Wii U Comes Out in August

It’s no secret that Nintendo’s latest console isn’t faring so well in terms of game. Despite a strong launch line-up, not a whole lot of games have been released since which made people go out and buy the Wii U. Nintendo is hoping to change that with Pokémon Rumble U, a downloadable title which will sell at $18 and will feature near-field communication figurines (NFC) similar to those used in Skylanders and Disney Infinity. The figurines will be available to buy at retail for $4.

18 figurines will be available at launch, however Pokémon Rumble U will feature all 649 found in Pokémon Black and White 2. Seeing the massive success Activision had with Skylanders, it’s clear that Nintendo wants to jump in the bandwagon of NFC figurines that the kids have grown to love so much. And everyone knows that kids still go crazy for anything Pokémon. Could this title be enough to move more Wii U? We’ll find out when the game will be available for download on August 29th in the US and August 15th in Europe.
