The animated sequel Despicable Me 2 literally dominated the US Box Office, crushing its main opponent, Disney’s The Lone Ranger. The cartoon earned at its debut an estimated $82.5 million in America, going close to $300 million if looking worldwide ($293.2 million since opening Wednesday).
Great flop instead for the $250 million budget The Lone Ranger, that came in a weak second place with $29.4 million, for a movie which will probably hardly cover its budget.
Monster University and The Heat (last weekend’s 1st and 2nd place) are still doing pretty good, holding their positions in the top four.
