Al Pacino leaves Despicable Me 2 cast

A rather strange event just occurred: seemingly, Al Pacino leaves Despicable Me 2 cast all in a sudden, which is certainly going to be troubling for the production. It is rare that a dubbing actor does such a thing, even more so since there are only a few weeks left before launch (release in the USA will happen on 3 July), but it seems like there was some kind of “creative disagreement”.

Al Pacino (who played Eduardo, the bad guy in the movie) decided to leave, as revealed by a press release issued by Illumination Entertainment:

“During the movie development of Despicable Me 2 there have been several creative disagreements between us and Al Pacino. We have eventually decided along with him to hire another dubbing actor instead. Universal and Illumination thank Al Pacino for the several contributions during the production, and we look forward to find a great actor for this amazing role.”

Universal Pictures already proposed Benjamin Bratt as a replacement. We’ll let you know more if there is any confirmation, of course.
