No Van Damme in Timecop Remake

It has been officially announced by Universal that there will be no Jean-Claude Van Damme in the Timecop remake, the upcoming movie obviously inspired by the sci-fi flick released back in 1994.

Everyone knows that movies from the Belgian actor became cult hits, so is it wise to plan a remake of Peter Hyams’ film without Jean? Maybe Universal needs to stop and rethink strategy, considering what happened to Sony after the near disastrous performance of Total Recall without Schwarzenegger.
