No Fast Travel In Batman:Arkham Knight,Only Batmobile

Many games today feature fast travel, in a form or another, but lately gamers have been clamouring for more hardcore, old-school gameplay elements, with limited or no fast travel options. They should be very pleased, then, to hear that Batman:Arkham Knight won’t have any form of it.

Speaking with Game Informer, Rocksteady‘s Creative Director Sefton Hill stated the following:

You’re looking at the fast travel system [hinting at the Batmobile]. I think we felt that it would take away from the experience rather than add to it because moving through the city is definitely part of the game.

Batman:Arkham Knight was revealed earlier last week, after a lot of speculation. The star of the last game in the franchise by Rocksteady (they already confirmed that they’ll work on something else afterwards) is surely the Batmobile, which required a much bigger world and therefore the power of next generation hardware. However, there are multiple benefits for the expanded playable area: gliding will be better too, according to Hill.

Arkham City was quite claustrophobic, so if you were really good at the grappling and gliding you could nick between the small buildings. But here we have a lot more negative space between the buildings, so it’s much easier and more enjoyable to glide around.

The first trailer was unfortunately done in Computer Graphics, but a few in-game screenshots have been leaked since then, and they look great, as you may have seen with the above image; you can find more below. Batman:Arkham Knight will be released in October for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
