Warhammer: End Times Vermintide Lands On PC, PS4 & XB1 In Second Half Of 2015
Swedish studio Fatshark is developing Warhammer: End Times Vermintide, a new take on the Warhammer fantasy setting. According to the press release, this will be a cooperative first person shooter and “melee combat adventure” scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the second half of 2015.
Players will be able to choose from a roster of five heroes, each one equipped with a different set of abilities and gear, while they band together to drive back Chaos in the city of Ubersreik, currently under attack from a swarm of hungry Skaven (rat-men). Martin Warhlund, CEO of Fatshark, stated:
Combining gritty combat with cooperative multiplayer action, Vermintide will provide the player with a completely new perspective of the Warhammer Fantasy universe, through the eyes of the heroes they play. Staying true to the fantasy lore, with familiar foes and locations, we look forward to winning the hearts of enthusiasts and newcomers with this new take on the Warhammer story.
Some additional information on Warhammer: End Times Vermintide has appeared on the Web thanks to scans of a Finnish magazine who got the exclusive. Apparently, the devs has been inspired by Turtle Rock‘s Left 4 Dead AI Director, meaning that enemies might not spawn in the same spots in two different gameplay sessions; this should lead to increased longevity.
Two of the character “classes” were revealed, one being a a Witch Hunter who hates Skavens since his eye got damaged by rats and uses pistols and daggers; the other is a Fire Mage woman who’s said to be powerful and insane, and players will have to avoid using spells continuously as that could result in her death because of heating up and bursting into flames.
Warhammer: End Times Vermintide is supposed to be very challenging, according to Fatshark, and there will be loot in the game. Enjoy the announcement teaser below and stay tuned for more on how to properly slaughter Skaven!
