15 For ’15 - Our Most Anticipated Games Of 2015

The year is still young, and it’s time to lay down our 15 most anticipated games of 2015.  There are many more interesting games, of course, but these ones stood out for us just a little more, at least for the time being; you’re more than welcome to write your list in the comments section, of course!

Dying Light

We’ve been able to play Dying Light before at Gamescom 2013 & 2014, and both times we came away impressed. The preview code also was promising, despite a few performance issues, and this could very well be Techland’s finest zombie game yet. The recent reveal that the “invasion” mode is finally available to all players is just the icing on the cake; stay tuned for our full review, coming very soon.

EVOLVEEE

Evolve

Turtle Rock Studios tries to innovate again after the enormous success with Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, this time using the “4 vs 1″ formula. The game looks and plays great, which is why we awarded it our Best FPS of Gamescom 2014 prize; the only concern is whether there’s enough variety to keep players entertained for a long time, but with the release only a couple of weeks away, we’ll know soon enough.

Bloodborne

Hidetaka Miyazaki leads From Software into another PlayStation exclusive with Bloodborne. The heritage of Demon/Dark Souls is still obvious, but the new setting and some additions such as the procedurally generated dungeon promise to keep things fresh even for long time fans. Are you prepared to die, yet again?

Project-CARS_BMW-M3-GT2-Race(1)

Project CARS

Project CARS has a peculiar history, as funding was raised within the community (without Kickstarter) which also provided feedback for the entirety of the development process. Slightly Mad Studios aims to create nothing less than the definitive racing simulation for a range of different platforms, from PC to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and even the less powerful WiiU. Check out our very positive hands-on from October.

The Witcher III: Wild Hunt

Even after two major delays, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt still ranks very highly among everyone’s most anticipated lists for 2015. The last entry in the trilogy created by CD Projekt promises a beautiful, dynamic and massive world to explore for all RPG fans while also allowing them to control Ciri, one of the most prominent characters in the books by Sapkowski, in certain sections of the game. Here’s our interview with Jose Teixeira from Gamescom 2014 if you want to learn more details.

Batman-Arkham-Knight-Closeup

Batman: Arkham Knight

Rocksteady defied a long standing trope with its Batman Arkham series, proving that licensed games can be masterpieces. Batman: Arkham Knight is the final entry to be developed by Rocksteady and they definitely want to go out with a bang, thanks to the addition of the Batmobile which adds an entirely new dimension to combat and to the game world.

Halo 5: Guardians

While players recently got the chance to try the multiplayer beta, there’s still a lot more to discover on Halo 5: Guardians. We know that it will run at 60FPS and that Agent Locke will be playable, presumably for a decent portion of the game.

Microsoft is also working with Steven Spielberg to launch a TV series around the same time of the videogame.

mgsv_afghanistan

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Ground Zeroes was just a tease. We all know it and we can’t wait to finally try MGSV in a huge open world as promised by Kojima. The game seems really huge and it also comes with the revamped Metal Gear Solid Online, making this an easy candidate to best gaming proposition of the year.

no-mans-sky-cockpit-planet

No Man’s Sky

So far we’ve mostly cited major franchises and/or developers, but indie studio Hello Games forced its way here with No Man’s Sky. Since its reveal at VGX 2013, this hugely ambitious title only garnered more praise and visibility, and rightfully so. Players will be able to embark on an epic journey as planetary explorers in a procedurally generated universe with the chance to interact with other players, although it won’t be common.

Quantum-Break-E3-2013-ScreenQuantum Break

Remedy Entertainment is going all in with Quantum Break, that’s for sure. Not only they have centered their new project on the ever enticing concept of time travel & the ability to manipulate time itself, they’re also working on a digital live-action series which will somehow interact with the game. They even worked with a CERN scientist to make the plot adhere to theoretical physics.

Star Wars Battlefront_in_engine

Star Wars: Battlefront

Ten years after the last main installment of the series, DICE has been chosen by Electronic Arts to reboot Star Wars: Battlefront. There’s not much info on this one as well, save for the engine used (Frostbite 3, obviously), the fact that Endor and Hoth will be both playable maps and the release date scheduled to align in the Holiday season with the new Star Wars movie by JJ Abrams. Will this really prove to be “a match made in heaven”?

zelda_wiiu_1

The Legend of Zelda

The first true WiiU-powered Zelda title should release in 2015. Revered game designer Aonuma stated that gameplay will now be non-linear, with a full open world to explore (probably influenced by titles like Skyrim) in beautiful cel-shaded graphics. This looks already like a must for WiiU owners.

rainbow-six-siege-grenade

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege

After the failure of Rainbow Six Patriots, Ubisoft announced Siege for next generation hardware, much to the joy of long time fans of the series (the latest instalment released in 2008). Marking the return of the tactical shooter, Rainbow Six: Siege will feature procedural destruction of the environments, giving even more tactical options to both squads involved. You can check the first incredible gameplay video here.

thedivision_taxi

Tom Clancy’s The Division

Massive Entertainment is aiming for the top with this one. An online third person shooter with MMORPG elements, The Division is set in a frozen New York after an unspecified disease has caused the collapse of society as we know it. As independent agents of The Division, players are tasked to expose a worldwide conspiracy battling both against AI and other players; the stunning graphics provided by the Snowdrop engine makes everything even more enticing.

It just remains to see if all the pieces in a complex project like this one will fall into place.

Uncharted4-Drake-Forest

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

After the success of The Last of Us, Naughty Dog is without a doubt one of the world’s foremost developers. As such, obviously everyone expects great things from their first true PlayStation 4-powered title, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and the debut gameplay trailer shown during PlayStation Experience promised an even greater variety for all kinds of situations, giving players a mini-sandbox environment in combat.

Will Drake’s last adventure be as memorable as Joel and Ellie’s first one, though?
