Escape Dead Island Has No RPG Or Crafting

Escape Dead Island, the spinoff of the Dead Island series, will not feature RPG or crafting elements. The game, which takes a more comic book styled approach to the zombie outbreak on a paradise holiday island will not allow you to upgrade your character or earn news skills though the campaign.

Instead the game will focus of the inventory of the character and its effect on the flow of gameplay. Cliff, the central character will have to scavenge for weapons and tools to survive on the island once he arrives at the beginning of the game. Certain areas in Escape Dead Island will only be available once you secure a certain piece of equipment such as a crowbar for instance.

Also because of the focus on equipment, durability has been taken out of this game, which means that once you find a weapon, you’ll have it for the entire adventure (unless forced to lose it at some point).

Crafting is hinted at throughout the game however, even though Cliff himself will never be able to do it. Certain weapons he collects through his journey of both insanity and paradise will appear to be crafted by former survivors. They will be strapped together with duck tape and look similar to the weapons created in the main series of the game.

Escape Dead Island will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The release date has yet to be announced.
