Claptrap’s Special Move Unveiled
As you know, Claptrap will be joining the new set of Vault Hunters for Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, where you’ll get to witness, and assist in Handsome Jacks rise to power.
But having met Claptrap in both Borderlands and Borderlands 2, it’s hard to imagine what special power he might have, being the buffoonish ever-failing robot that he is. Well at Gamescom 2014, they finally announced exactly what you could do as Claptrap.
“vaulthunter.exe” as his power is known, randomly selects a ability to use for a brief time. Some of these are abilities mimicked from other Vault Hunters, such as dual wielding or throwing down a turret. However these abilities are just the tip of the iceberg.
Claptrap will also have a collection of unique powers that might randomly occur by activating his special move. Some are minor, such as super fast reloading, but some are incredibly powerful. One example of these has Claptrap pretending to be a pirate ship, complete with captains hat and cannons. Rather than replacing your ordinary weapons the cannons fire automatically from the side to completely lay waste to everyone in your path.
Be warned, however, as Claptrap’s “vaulthunter.exe” can also be incredibly harmful in the fight. Sometimes his ability will add such unusual effects as causing your entire team to bounce up and down uncontrollably or even worse. And your friends will not be very happy if you’re the cause of that.
Other then “vaulthunter.exe” Claptrap can also unlock high-fiving at the end of one of his ability trees. When Claptrap offers out a high five and someone returns the favour, the entire team is rewarded with the “Power of Friendship” buff. But if he is left hanging Claptrap alone receives the “Sadness” buff.
Other then Claptrap and the Vault Hunters abilities have been revealed.
Athena has an energy shield which absorbs damage to been thrown out like a discus at her foes.
Wilhelm unleashes two drones onto the battlefield, ‘Saint’ and ‘Wolf’. Wolf flies out to attack and disrupt the enemies it can find, while Saint stays back protecting Wilhelm with shields and buffs.
Nisha’s ability is simply named ‘Showdown’, which gives her the incredible buffs to her weapons, as well as auto aim so that she can take everything in sight down.
Borderlands the Pre-Sequel is set for release in October for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
