343 Producer Plans To Change How Halo Is Experienced

The Halo franchise has undergone a series of dramatic changes in these past few years. Halo 4 marked the transition from Bungie to 343 Industries, Halo 5: Guardians will bring it on the next generation while Halo: Nightfall will usher the universe into live action, with a TV series produced by Ridley Scott.

One of the most influential persons in regards to the direction Halo is taking must surely be Kiki Wolfkill, 343′s Executive Producer. Today a very interesting interview appeared on Microsoft’s own website, detailing her peculiar personality but more importantly, shining some light on her own project for Halo.

With Xbox One, we have the opportunity to allow people to experience all these different modes of storytelling — game, television, even graphic novels – in the same place and without friction.

Our next step is to try and make the connections between the game and its linear entertainment aspects even more experiential. I want to transform how people experience ‘Halo’ in their living rooms and on their PCs.

We will never do anything that doesn’t move the universe forward. We won’t do something for the sake of being in a certain medium.

It’s reassuring to hear that 343 Industries and Microsoft don’t plan to create non-gaming content within the Halo universe just for the sake of it, as usually this ends up in terrible productions. Halo: Nightfall will be available for free to those players who are going to buy Halo: The Master Chief Collection, while everyone else will be able to buy and download it from Xbox Live.
