TLOU Remastered Looks Much Better In Motion

Earlier today, PlayStation M VP AKyemeni shared some early impressions on The Last of Us Remastered in a series of Neogaf posts.

Those worried about frame drops will be relieved to read that apparently, it almost never happens save for the most intense situations with a lot of particle effects going on, and even then it still remains as high as 50-55FPS.

It’s pretty solid. I haven’t noticed any frame drops EXCEPT when during extremely heavy particle effects and lots of movement is happening, which only happened once. During that part, it dropped to may be 50-55.

Some people have also been somewhat disappointed by the official screenshots released in the past few days, especially after all the hype created by some developers at Naughty Dog. However, AKyemeni reckons that both pictures and streams don’t really do any justice to The Last of Us Remastered, and the improvement is actually noticeable - even in gameplay, which is more responsive thanks to the transition to 60FPS.

Oh man, it looks so amazing in motion. The live streams and pics do absolutely no justice to the game.

The animation is so fluid when at 60FPS and the textures are so gorgeous to look at. You can even see Joel’s individual chest hairs IN GAMEPLAY! Those newspapers and books you find scattered around? You can actually read what they say now.

The shooting, smoke, and blood effects have been improved slightly. The water effects are amazing as well, but they act unstable with moss on them.

Actually, you do notice it in the middle of gameplay because the controls become more responsive and the game actually does what you actually tell it to do without delay.

Finally, he provided some information about the multiplayer playlists, which aren’t there any more - hopefully this will help avoid splitting the community.

They got rid of those playlists. There are only the modes and parties and no parties playlists.

The Last of Us Remastered releases on 29th July for PlayStation 4; look forward to our review next week.
