Media Molecule Teases “Super Exciting” Stuff

British studio Media Molecule still hasn’t revealed anything about their projects on PlayStation 4, going dark after last year’s release of Tearaway on PS Vita. Some believed that their next game might be revealed at E3 2014, but yesterday they confirmed that it won’t be the case on Twitter. They also added quite a few other interesting details, though, starting with the tease of what’s indeed coming (from Sony in all likelihood, since Media Molecule is owned by Sony Computer Entertainment) next week, based on their inside information.
Back on their no-show news, obviously some followers were disappointed, and MM decided to throw them a bone by adding that they can’t wait to show something that’s “a whole lotta fun”, and the wait won’t be “much longer”. This seems a clear nod to Gamescom 2014, which will begin just two months after the end of E3; it’s an ongoing tradition to unveil games in the studio’s own territory whenever possible, with Media Molecule announcing Tearaway during Sony’s Press Conference at Gamescom 2012.
Even Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment decided to skip this year’s E3 to unveil their highly anticipated Quantum Break during Gamescom 2014.
Lead Artist Jon Eckersley added that while the studio won’t be at this year’s E3, they’re working on “super exciting things” that will be worth the wait.
As for the nature of the project itself, it is known that they have been experimenting with the potential of PlayStation Move - if you recall, they showed a tech demo running on PlayStation 4 during the platform’s announcement event (PlayStation Meeting 2013). Since the announcement of Project Morpheus, speculation has been running rampant that they might be using both to cook an explosive gameplay experience.
