The Witcher 3 Allows Horse Combat Everywhere

While 2014 remains probably the best year ever for roleplaying games, the brightest gem has been delayed into 2015, as you probably know by now.

I’m obviously talking about The Witcher 3, which is one of the most anticipated games in development and stunned everyone with the E3 2014 trailer. CD Projekt RED is still slowly revealing more information about the game, which is kind of them to do to tide over their many fans; today we learned, via an interview that Game Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz had with AusGamers, that horse combat - seen for the first time during the aforementioned trailer - is one of the distinguishing features of the game and will be available everywhere instead of just in specific gameplay sequences.

When talking about the main features of the Witcher 3, he said:

And of course there’s the horse combat! But we didn’t show it in the demo. You can do it whenever you want. You can attack with a sword, shoot a crossbow, throw bombs; you can even fight another horseman.

This is, of course, a major change in the flow of combat. Let’s hope that CD Projekt RED can balance it properly with combat on foot, otherwise players might be using Geralt on horseback all the time. Still, I can’t wait to check more about it; hopefully we can learn something at Gamescom 2014.

The Witcher 3 launches for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 24th February, barring any further and very unpleasant delays.
