Sunset Overdrive Traversal System Could Be Tweaked

In the last couple of days, Sunset Overdrive successfully conquered the spotlight thanks to an outstanding gameplay reveal and a lot of new information. Insomniac Games‘ Community and Marketing Lead James Stevenson is a regular poster on Neogaf, and he’s been answering some of the most recurring questions posed by fans.

For example, many have complained about the traversal system, which seemed a lot faster in last year’s E3 teaser (which was done in Computer Graphics, by the way). Stevenson stated that while playing Sunset Overdrive it actually feels fast enough since the user is also supposed to shoot, but they have registered the feedback and they’ll keep testing the game with it in mind.

we are always testing it to see what works right.

Keep in mind, it plays faster than it looks on video. And in the middle of combat, while figuring out what traversal to do next, where the enemies are and how they are impeding you, while trying to kill them (and decide which weapons to use or switch weapons) and keep your style meter going, means there is a lot to keep you busy.

we’ve heard that feedback from you guys though, and we’ll keep testing with it in mind for sure. so I guess the answer is, we’ll see.

Another interesting tidbit is that Sunset Overdrive has already seen a significant pass of polish from the build where the gameplay video was filmed. Apparently, the HUD was terrible enough that they’ve redone it and we’ll only get to see it at E3…

yes, it’s so true. the UI the press saw is pretty bad in a couple ways (health being one of them!) so we aren’t showing it until E3.

there’s been lots of polish things since the build all these videos are based from
