ND: PS4 Allowed Us To Evolve Many Technical Aspects Of TLOU

After the leak spotted on the PlayStation Network and many rumors in the last few months, TLOU has been finally confirmed for PlayStation 4 - it will be titled The Last of Us Remastered, and it will release in Summer 2014.

As usual, Naughty Dog‘s Eric Monacelli took some time after the announcement on the PlayStation Blog to reply to comments and add some insight; we’ve gathered some of his most interesting replies.

First of all, he confirmed that Naughty Dog has been working a lot on this port, and thanks to the PS4 power TLOU is being evolved and upgraded in many ways:

We’re putting a lot of effort into this to make it really a remastered version. We have found that working on the PS4 has allowed us to evolve and upgrade the visuals and a multitude of technical aspects of the game. We love setting challenging technical hurdles at every step – and this is no different.

Some other bits mixed together:

[Multiplayer progress] will not [carry over from PS3]. We’ll be discussing multiplayer plans in the near future.

[When asked for a video showing the improvements] We will be sharing more about it in the coming weeks.

We are targeting 60fps.

The new difficulty will be included.

In the blog post, they already confirmed that the game will be rendered at 1080P with “higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements”.

Every DLC released so far, plus the third and final one, will be included as well in The Last of Us Remastered. The big question is, if you bought the game already on PS3, are you willing to buy it again in this enhanced verison on PS4? If you didn’t play it on PS3 there shouldn’t be the slightest question in your mind, by the way - you absolutely have to play the game that gathered more than 200 Game of the Year Awards.
