Housemarque: “PS4 is a powerful machine that works”

In an interview with Gamers Sphere , Housemarque revealed how easier was it to develop for PS4 than PS3, while describing PS4 as “a very powerful machine that just works”.

Yeah, our engineers agree. Especially in the first years, there were things on PS3 that were poorly documented, or required a lot of extra effort just to work as expected. To give you an example, early dev kits didn’t even recognize HDMI inputs automatically. That was stuff developers had to deal with, and when you’re paying people by the hour… well, it didn’t make things easy. Over the years the situation on PS3 normalized, but PS4 is a very powerful machine that just works – we don’t have to spend an afternoon reverse engineering basic features.

This comes as no surprise since Sony was known to be quite unhelpful to developers in the early days of PlayStation 3. Fortunately that changed with forming of the ICE Team, and they listened a lot to various developers while they were designing PlayStation 4. This isn’t the first time that Housemarque spoke highly of PlayStation 4: we reported earlier that they went as far as calling it the Supreme Platform.
