Dark Souls II To Have Offline Invasions via AI
The time is almost up for gamers to dive again in the punishing worlds created by From Software. Dark Souls II is set to release between 11th(North America) and 13th(Europe) March on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while the PC version should launch “shortly after”, but no specific date has been given yet.
Details on Dark Souls II are still flowing. Director Yui Tanimura revealed to OPM UK that the studio added invasions even while playing offline, to maintain the same feeling.
Even when playing offline, we’ve implemented AI elements and enemy elements that will function as if the player is playing in the online space.
Producer Takeshi Miyazoe added:
Those elements will make you feel as if you’re online, like you might be invaded by an AI enemy. You won’t be able to see blood messages and bloodstains, though.
You won’t be invaded by players, but you also won’t be able to summon – and there are difficult bosses out there. But the bosses and the venue structure will be the same offline, and the challenge and sense of achievement and satisfaction when you overcome something will be there.
March is going to be an incredibly cramped month, with many high profile releases such as Titanfall, Dark Souls II, Infamous: Second Son, MGS V: Ground Zeroes and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, but From Software has gained a cult following thanks to the previous Souls games. If you have RPGs you might have preordered already, but the real question might be, are you willing to wait for the PC version?
