Speaking to Bloomberg TV, Don Mattrick, Microsoft‘s president of interactive entertainment, argued that the 499$/€ (429£) price tag for Xbox One isn’t ridiculous as some are saying.
It’s a lower number than some of the analysts had forecasted. We’re over-delivering value against other choices I think consumers can get. Any modern product these days you look at it [and] $499 isn’t a ridiculous price point. We’re delivering thousands of dollars of value to people, so I think they’re going to love it when they use it. We’re really making the living room your center of fun for your family
The problem for Microsoft is that Sony managed to price its PlayStation 4 at 100$/€ (80 £) less, and that is with a hardware which is supposedly more powerful. Xbox One has Kinect integrated, but that’s hardly a significant feature for many hardcore gamers. What do you think? Is the price fair or not?
