Silence is no longer Scorsese’s dream

After fifteen years of waiting and wading through different legal disputes, the dream of Martin Scorsese, Silence, will finally be produced.  Scorsese obtained financing by Emmett/Furla FIlms, enabling him to green light the movie.  According to rumors, filming will start around July 2014, due to the availability of the actors involved, including Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro.

The movie will be an adaptation of the book by Shusaku Endo, which follows a group of missionaries sent to Japan to investigate tortures inflicted upon Christians by the Emperor. Jay Cocks will write the screenplay with Martin Scorsese. Scorsese recently completed the filming of his next movie, The Wolf of Wall Street, in which he directed a cast composed by Leonardo Di Caprio, Matthew McConaughey and Jonah Hill.

The film is now in post-production, due to launch in theatres by November 2013.
