Indie JRPG Edge of Eternity Now On KS With PS4/XB1 Stretch Goals

French developer Midgar Studio published today its Kickstarter campaign for Edge of Eternity; the good news is that you can try a pre-alpha demo on PC before committing to a pledge, and that includes those gamers who use Mac or Linux instead of Windows as their OS.
Edge of Eternity mixes many different elements in all of its areas. The setting, for instance, is a blend of fantasy and sci-fi; the gameplay is inspired by JRPGs for combat and progression and by WRPGs for open world exploration and non-linear storytelling. More precisely, combat will feature two modes: ATB (Active Time Battle) and classic turn-based, so that players can choose according to their preferences.
The main storyline won’t be linear, Midgar Studio promised, with branching paths depending directly on the player’s choices. Moreover, there will be a dynamic event system tied to the day/night cycle and dynamic weather; this may also influence combat.
Finally, Edge of Eternity will have both a World Map system, similarly to most JRPGs, and large open areas to explore like you would in a typical western RPG. These will have very different environments, each one filled with specific quests and side quests to complete. In a few hours the campaign already raised almost $10,000, which bodes well for the minimum goal of $44,000; the campaign will end on March 22, so there’s plenty of time to reach the $60K stretch goal which would allow the studio to port the game on PlayStation 4 & Xbox One as well.
Edge of Eternity is scheduled to be released in late 2016 at the moment.
