Assassin’s Creed Unity Won’t Have Competitive Multiplayer
Assassin’s Creed has been a yearly franchise, for better or worse, so obviously everyone was expecting a new game. Assassin’s Creed Unity does look like it’s doing some things different from its predecessor, Assassin’s Creed IV, though.
The biggest addition in terms of feature is the ability to play cooperatively with three of your friends, as the featured image suggests, and wreak havoc together in Paris during the French Revolution. The “shared experience”, as it’s being called by Ubisoft, is expected to take one third of the average player’s time in Assassin’s Creed Unity.
However, some players might be disappointed at the news (given during an interview on Twitch) that competitive multiplayer won’t be available this time around. All is not lost for the fans of this mode anyway, as Vincent Pontbriand teased:
You’ll have to wait it out.
This could very well be a hint that Assassin’s Creed multiplayer is getting a standalone release, removed from the main series, possibly free-to-play. Many have suggested such a thing in the past years, with the growing popularity of the mode. Perhaps this will be tied to the incredibly well received naval battles introduced with the third and fourth chapters; it could be a hit on its own, no doubt.
Still, are you sad that Assassin’s Creed Unity doesn’t have it? Tell us in the comments, and enjoy the co-op gameplay demonstration below. The game is planned for an October 28th release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and possibly WiiU should get a different version rumored to be titled Comet.
