Homefront 2 Trailer Coming Tomorrow

We’re almost there. One week separates us from the crazy madness that is the Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3. The most important convention on videogames will start, as always, with the conferences by platform owners and big third party publishers (EA and Ubisoft) on Monday 9th; however, during this week we can expect a lot of announcements from other developers and publishers. CD Projekt scheduled a conference of their own on June 5th, for example, but it looks like tomorrow Crytek is planning to seize attention for their latest projects.

First of all, insider Shinobi just confirmed that we’ll be watching the first official Homefront 2 trailer tomorrow.

We speculated that Homefront 2 could have been the rumored third party exclusive for Xbox One, but shinobi denied that this is going to be the case, with PS4, XB1 & PC versions planned. He then added that EA isn’t publishing the game this time.

Homefront 2 will be the sequel of the 2011 game by Kaos Studios. It’s being developed by Crytek UK (formerly Free Radical) and some early pictures were leaked last year; we’ve reported them below.

Given Crytek’s pedigree and tech (their CryEngine is being used more and more in the industry, even by small developers), it is a safe bet that the game will look stunning, but will they be able to overcome the mixed reaction to the original Homefront?

Even if you didn’t like the first game very much, that’s not the only Crytek news you can expect tomorrow. As shinobi pointed out, the reveal of Project Grave is expected for tomorrow as well, shortly after Homefront 2.

Project Grave is probably being developed by Crytek USA, born on the ashes of Vigil Games, the studio that made Darksiders. Todd Papy, the Game Director of God of War: Ascension, joined Crytek six months ago to lead an unannounced project - it could be Grave. Given that both Vigil Games and Papy used to make action games, it seems like the most likely choice for the genre, although that’s only speculation on our part.
