Among The Sleep Devs On Next Gen Ports

Yesterday, Norwegian studio Krillbite offered themselves for an AMA(Ask Me Anything) session on r/games. Many tidbits on the game and its development were unfolded, including some details on the state of ports for next generation consoles of Among The Sleep, their indie game (which was funded through a very successful Kickstarter campaign one year ago) now available on Steam.
A PS4 version has been announced a few weeks ago, so naturally a few users asked about it. CEO/Programmer Ole Andreas Jordet said that developing on PS4 has been great so far, and Sony reached out after GDC 2013 and they’ve been in touch ever since. There’s no hint whatsoever on the release date, though, or on the chance that Among The Sleep could be offered on PlayStation Plus.
The process of development for PS4 has been great so far, though we have mainly worked on getting the game running with controller support and supported shaders. We met up with Sony last GDC (2013), where they wanted to have a chat about our game. We showed them an early prototype and we’ve been talking since. :)
There’s still hope for Xbox One and maybe even WiiU, as these statements by Jordet and Martin Kvale confirm that they would like to port the title to other platforms as well.
We are not excluding Xbox One in any way and will let everybody know if we know more about release on other platforms! We would love to port to other consoles as well, but we’ll be focusing on the PS4 version for now. :)
Although its [XB1 version] possible, for the time being we are just working towards ps4 release and focusing fully on that.
Finally, they also teased a new project, although it will only be shared at a later time.
We do have plans for what a future project might be, but we’ll let you know when we have something more concrete to share.
Among The Sleep features a two years old child waking up at night due to mysterious sounds and exploring the house in the dark, through a first person perspective. Are you intrigued by its concept?
