Early Wolfenstein Owner Praises The Game
It’s been five years since the last entry in the Wolfenstein series, but in a few days Wolfenstein: The New Order will satisfy once again the thirst of gamers for this very peculiar World War II/fantasy themed universe.
Players will once again control the legendary protagonist of the series, B.J. Blazkowicz, as he leads a seemingly impossible counter-offensive against the Third Reich, who has been able to win World War II with the help of very advanced technologies.
Even though the game isn’t technically out until 20th May, a handful of people already managed to get their hands on Wolfenstein and one of them talked about his impressions after completing it on Reddit. First of all, he praised MachineGames‘ work saying that it’s a great game, and he would recommend it to “tide over” until Watch Dogs. Some users were concerned about the AI from the leaked videos, but he replied that it isn’t that bad, with enemies actually following an escape attempt and trying to dodge shots fired by the player.
When asked about a graphics comparison with RAGE (the only available game using id Tech 5), he said that Wolfenstein is a bit better in this regard. The game doesn’t feature multiplayer of any kind, but he confirmed that the storyline lasts about 20 hours, and that’s not counting a possible second playthrough - in which the player gets to control another character and access some new secret areas, depending on a choice made during the first mission.
Finally, those of you who are serial collectors of achievements/trophies will be happy to know that most of those found in Wolfenstein: The New Order simply require to collect everything during a particular mission, which hints that this game shouldn’t be particularly troubling for the completionist in you.
Here’s some proof that his Xbox One copy is completely legitimate.
Having played the game at Gamescom 2013, I’m not surprised of this kind of early impressions. I remember leaving the joypad with some regret, because I was really starting to get into the plot and the main character, and the gunplay seemed already nailed by the developer.
